Fashion + Function?

What do we think of this hat from Kate Spade?

According to the product page:

it's the perfect mix of form meets function, as the sunglasses detail is more than meets the eye: peer through the tinted lenses to read a novel, watch the waves or simply take in the view.

Could this really work?  Because uh, I kinda want one.

Swim Season. Yay.

Like it or not, its time to get back out the bikinis and get ready for pool and beach time.  This summer, I'm looking forward to my new apartment with its super swanky 15th floor pool in the sky, complete with cabana beds to lay out in.  I went swim shopping with a friend today, and even though I didn't buy anything and I wasn't able to convince her to buy my fave Shoshanna swimsuit, she found something I really loved too:

In a move that will surprise no one, I really think swim wear is something worth investing in.  I have a $200 Shoshanna suit from 2004 that still looks fabulous- no runs, no fading after summers at the pool and laying out on many a Caribbean beach.  If you are going to walk around in public in your underwear, you might as well make sure its the most flattering underwear money can buy, right?

This print is from a separates collection by Robin Piccone.  She bought hers at Nordstrom, if you want to try it on in person.  The bottom is big enough to cover up a real booty, an affliction both my friend and I suffer from.  And the price isn't terrible- tops from $70.00 and bottoms from $54.00.

Loving this cardigan, that can pretend to be a jacket when needed on Casual Jacket Friday:

Marc, Marc, Marc.

It's like Marc Jacobs is trying to drive me into bankruptcy.  I try and snag all of my Marc by Marc items on sale, but every season, there's a dress that eludes my grasp.  One that I wait just a little too long for it to go on sale.  My guess is that the latest member of this club is going to be this dress:

As much as I love it, I haven't found a way to justify a $458.00 dress.  Yet.

I'll Still Drink the Crewlade.

It seems to be all the rage to hate on J. Crew all over the internet, but uh, I still dig the Crew.  I'm trying to shop less generally, so that means less J. Crew, but I still think they make the perfect summer dresses.  And now, the perfect summer bag:

Love Love Love! the colors!  Love the shape!  Love the shoulder strap.  Love the ruching!  And based on my experience with J. Crew bags, love the price for the quality.

J. Crew also still does the best pretty, girly heel:

I'll vouch for J. Crew shoe quality too- I wear the crap out of my Juliet pumps and they still look fabulous!  I'll never desert you, J. Crew.
